  4. My daughter is returning to the UK for a months holiday later on this year, and we're just trying to make sure she has the correct travel documents. Her UK passport run out couple of years ago, and she is an australian citizen so entitled to an australian passport. Ideally she wants to get both, but 2 passports is alot of money!!! If she gets an australian passport to travel into the UK with, will she need a visitor visa? I found something on the net which said she didnt, but just wanted to clarify. And correct me please if i'm wrong, but i am pretty sure that she will definitely need to return to Australia on an australian passport as she is a citizen and not a visa holder anymore. She is also thinking that whilst she is in the UK, she will apply for her UK passport...hell of alot cheaper to do it there than over here...and if it its not back to her whilst she is there, then get family to post it over...is that possible to do?
  5. Thanks to everyone who has replied. She wont need to pay for accommodation, has plenty of family and friends she can hopefully stay with. I doubt if she will hire a car, having learnt to drive over here, think the UK roads would scare her to death, so will be public transport and kind friends and family helping her i think! Yea she likes clubbing and drinking, but its not the be all and end all for her....She'll be spending majority of her time in the Ascot area (family are there), and Milton Keynes...
  6. My 23 year old daughter is planning a 4 week trip back to the UK later this year. Having been gone for nearly 8 years, its hard for us to judge how much spending money she should take? She's not planning to spend the whole 4 weeks clubbing, but obviously wants enough to have a good time! Any ideas?
  7. I thought someone was taking it over?? I'm sure at presentations it was announced someone was doing it?
  8. Oh i dont understand why they knew nothing about it? we had flyers put up and also in classes. Maybe it just didnt get through to all, we are doing it from Year 6 (which is obviously the primary school) upwards.
  9. HI, Unfortunately that's not my decision, allowing kids from other schools will depend largely on the response we get from our own kids. I can certainly get in touch with you when we know what response we get tomorrow and in the coming days if thats okay. At the moment, we have no clue what response there will be, and if we get enough kids to make a team in any of the age groups, will also need coaches.
  10. Oh, no-one is taking it over? The people who run it, (you probably know them if your son played last year) their kids were Year 7 last year so have all left to go to High school. My son played for Woodcroft Pirmary last year (U13) but attended REC. So it is possible to attend one school and play for another, but obviously the students of the school get preference before others from other schools. I would get in touch with other local primary schools in the area, like Braeview, Reynella South etc and see if they can help your son out. Sorry i cant help any further Sadly we are not doing teams as young as age 7.
  11. If anyone on here has kids that go to reynella east college and are interested in playing Football, please come along to the school this saturday (23rd Feb) and register. We will be there 10.30-2.30 in the new Gym. Its boys and girls, and is from year 6 up to U18
  12. Hi Aly, Kids go back 29th Jan, and shortly after that, info will be available for the kids and parents, so keep a look out for notes/flyers coming home with your son. (being prepared at the moment). Teams will depend on us getting enough coaches/parents to help out... I'll let you know
  13. Hi, I have 3 kids at Reynella, year 4, 8 and 12. My kids have been there since 2006, and overall have been happy with it. What sports is your son into? They offer a wide range there. Football (Soccer) is being brought back in this year and we are looking to field teams, both boys and girls, from Year 6 up to Under 18's. We will be organising it, so if you want more info, let me know. As for the school...they have recently spent alot of money on the school, including a new gym. Subject choices are good. It caters for a wide range of students, and i've always find them to be really helpful.

    kids football/ soccer

Hi, My son plays U14 JSL (State) for Cumberland Utd. This coming season will be his second there. http://www.cumberlandunited.com.au/ Arriving in July, the season will be well under way by then, but it will do no harm at all to contact a few clubs as there could be places....players get injured, drop out etc.... Cumberland Utd are set up well, great organisation and pretty successful. Fees are expensive though, but you will find that pretty much across the board in club football. Definitely looking at around the $500-600 mark for fees and that might not include all the required kit. Ask the school he will be attending what they do for football. My son goes to Reynella East College, and there are plans this year to field teams (both boys and girls), from Year 6 up to U18 level. School football is much cheaper, around $100 for the season There are also many other competitions your son could try for such as SAPSASA, State Championships (State & Country) My son has played SAPSASA and State Country, and will probably do State City & Country this year as well.
  15. I know of someone who has just finished his Cert II in construction and furnishing and is looking for an apprenticeship. If anyone knows of anything going, please let me know. Thanks
  16. I know of someone who is looking to start an apprenticeship if anyone is interested?
  17. I was listening to a guy from beyond blue this morning...an organisation for people with depression, anxiety and other issues. Something he said, i think, is very true. He has actually asked for the DJ's now to be left alone....apparantley one of them is in a very fragile state, and he pointed out that if this media and public barage continues, there could be another tradegy to result out of this. At the end of the day, whether you agree with prank calls or not, these DJ's will have been authorised by their bosses to carry this out. I dont think anyone could ever have envisaged a tradegy to occur like it has...but the main question that i think needs to be asked and the facts established...is whether after the recording, permission was sought to air it. If permission wasnt granted ( and i believe it has to be), then the radio station concerned is the one who should be condemmed...not the DJ's...
  18. My son has friends who are twins, they're called Storm & Rain. I love the name Summer for a girl.
  19. No idea!!! But as the parent of a soccer player...it certainly does add up! Last season my son joined a new club, it cost us $900 for the season. This was around $560 for fees (including playing top) plus another $340 for the rest of the kit such as shorts, socks, away kit, tracksuit etc. Then add the cost of football boots, goalkeeper gloves (his a goalie), shin pads etc....Dont think we got much change out around $1200 to kit him out for the season. We have just registered him for next season, and fortunately all his kit still fits, so its just the fees for us this time around, $590....well for the mean time anyway...football boots etc will be needed! I don't know why its so elitist here in terms of cost, maybe the funding isnt here like it is in the UK from the FA? Just a tip, if you need football stuff, check out shops in england because its very expensive over here!!! The Goalkeeper gloves my son wanted were $160 over here for one pair, we bought two pairs of the same gloves for the same price from the UK!
  20. Due to lack of interest, my son has decided to sell all his guitar items. For $450 in total, we are selling the following: Fender Squire Stratocaster LEFT HANDED Guitar with stand RRP $499 Ashton GA10 Amplifier (retails at around $80) Digitech RP55 effects pedal with a power supply (retails around $70 plus power supply is normall extra) I would really like to sell this all as a package, but would be willing to consider separating.
  21. My son's first guitar for sale, a Blue Zephyr Left Handed Acoustic Guitar. Please note its left handed Sadly he is giving up playing $40
  22. My son is selling his collection of Goosebumps books. Most in really good condition, although couple a bit tatty..but all very readable! 45 books in total $50
