Hi everyone

Just thought we'd write and say hello as we will soon be leaving these shores for sunny Adelaide Our flight is the 25th of this month, hopefully anyway, there haven't been any flights from Newcastle to Heathrow for a couple of days now and I think flights leaving the London airports have been limited so fingers crossed. Needless to say we are both very excited!

 

We have digs for 2 weeks so hopefully in that time we will find something more permanent, any suggestions? Obviously we'd like to be near the beach, we were thinking somewhere like Glenelg as it seems popular but on reading some of the posts on here maybe somewhere like Hallet Cove would be better? We can't wait to see what these places actually look like, no Adelaide recce for us!

 

Janna starts her nursing job on the 7th of Feb so it'd be great to have something sorted by then although judging by the temperature over there we'l probably still be lying in a dark room sweating in March.

 

We'l have plenty to do in those first 2 weeks anyway, need a car and i'll be keeping an eye open for any decorating work so if anyone has any advice feel free to tell all. This site has been really helpful so far, particularly the thread with tips for new arrivals, thanks!

happy landings all of you! If any of you with kids fancy a play date when you get here, give me a shout. Have been here 4 months and have a 4 year old son who would to show off his local adventure playground (the fort), beaches or soft play centre (Play n Fun).

There is nothing like looking at a place in the flesh once you get here. You might not even be able to get a rental in the area you want.

Good luck with all your flights you will be fine as long as you bring your swimmers!

Thanks for the good wishes the snow is melting and our packing boxes have arrived so as long as the weather is like this 2 weeks today we'l be right! Hope its all going to plan for the other families who are shipping out soon.

 

As far as digs goes the best advice seems to be see whats what when we arrive, we'r pretty flexible, as long as its not a dump and we can get to the beach and city without too much hassle we'l be happy.

 

We'v been gathering the various bits to satisfy the points system most of the agents seem to have, references etc, hopefully they won't ask for 6 months rent as we read somewhere on here!
