Hi , Just wondered if someone could help...

We want to purchase a car privately, can anyone advise about additional costs for registration, GST, etc..? Is this is a one off payment related to the sale? Who do we pay it to?

You need to get registration papers from the registered owner so that the vehicle can be transferred into your name by Revenue SA.

You will pay stamp duty on the value of the car, only when you purchase it, and registration charges each quarter, (six months or year).

The registration office will calculate how much you need to pay when you take the papers to them.
