Hi all,

We are moving to Adelaide this coming March and my son is of 13 years hence he will be joining in the secondary school.

can someone please tell me which one is the best secondary school among Glenunga, Brighton and Unley High schools in terms of getting admission, school fees, academics?

By the way as we are from India can you please tell me how comfortably a kid can settle in his new school in Adelaide?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Uma

They are all excellent; we are both university academics and would have been happy to send our son to any of them if necessary.

Glenunga has many international students and offers the baccalaureate. Unley has one of the best reputations in the State and parents fight hard to get their kids in there.

It's worth bearing in mind that some of the Catholic private schools are very well regarded indeed, and have extremely modest fees.

if you did not know this, you could check all the school perfomances through this site. http://www.myschool.edu.au/

I am not sure anybody could tell u about "the best". All three school mentioned are very good schools, with different stressing in school activities. You could consider other state schools like Marryatville and Norwood Morialta as well.

kind regards

Hi

I can only speak for 'Glenunga' as my sons went there - we were very happy with it. For Marryatville and Glenunga you MUST be in 'ZONE' - we chose Glenunga as they do the 'International Bacceleaureate'(IB) the school is made up of many 'oversea' students as well as a great mixture of kids. Most of the kids do well there - it has a good reputation.

Hope this helps

Thank you all :) Really your answers are informative to me. Now got a better idea for the school as well as zone selection to live.

And can any one please confirm that - do we get admission to the kid even in between of the academic year? or do we need to wait for next year. Please let me know this for a confirmation.

Uma

When we arrived in Australia in 2010, it was in September. So our children, who go to Marryatville High and Primary, were admitted for the last term of the school year, because we came at the end of the third term. For zoning, I think, most school will ask you to provide proof that you live in the area. It usually a rental agreement if you rent, or proof house ownership, if you bought a house. The minimum rental agreement is at least for 12 months.

kind regards
