new migrant looking for room/support

Hello all.I'm planning to move from new Zealand where i have lived for 10 years to Adelaide mid /end of November with a view to finding work/settling.Only trouble is I don't know a soul there ! And am hopeful to make contact with someone who would perhaps give me a bit of support while i initially come over and get car / job etc,i not asking to have my hand held or anything like that ! lol,but as i know no one there it would be good for any help i could get to settle in.I'm looking for a room short term.I'm a non smoker/clean living mature tradesman originally from Birmingham England.Hoping someone maybe able to help? Hi Darren,have you tried sites such as Gumtree?You can normally find a house share/room to rent on there.

hello yes i put a wanted ad on gumtree but had no replies,i know i could get a room off there if i kept at it but thought if i appealed to expats who know what its like making a new start in a new country then i may get just a wee bit of support as well,not just a room.darren

Hi Darren can't help with a room to rent but definately here for any advice you need. We lived in NZ for eight years and moved to Adelaide 5 months ago, so we have a bit in common! My husband was a fitter/turner but now a chef. Happy to help if we can.

There is a site where people want house sitters short term, pm zebedee as he used it and saved a packet. Costs about 40 quid to join.
