How strict are the schools on dress code?

Hi

I am looking for some advice my son wears a uniform to school but is allowed to wear any brand of trainers and hoodies, jackets etc

Can anyone tell me if this is possible in Adelaide high and primary schools or are they really strict? As he does not like the idea of wearing lace up shoes etc

I am hoping the kids will be going to Henley primary and high if that helps.

Thanks

Adlyn

At Henley Primary they ar allowed to wear any trainers - they're not supposed to wear shoes because of their sports programme (in that they could at minute be up and jogging about, or something :)) but when it comes to clothes there should be no branding on any of it - most children seem to wear the school jumpers/t-shirts with Henley on them although mine have a couple of M&S v-necks that they wear and are fine (so if your uniform is currently navy and/or yellow bring it, it'll be fine).

High schools seem to be much stricter and certainly Henley has a "proper" shoe policy (although I'm not sure I've seen any girls who actually do their sandals up). I think Secondary uniform generally comes direct from the school.

Hi Adlyn

I would say the primary schools here are very laid back with their uniform. My daughters went to 3 different state primary schools here and were allowed to wear any trainers, blue tops etc. They are now at a private high school which is much more strict on uniforms...

Hope this helps

Henley Primary is not strict my youngest goes there ..... Henley High do expect you to follow the dress code but ... Boys cant get away with wearing black trainer style shoes .. Both schools are great, my children both enjoy there time at both schools.

Generally you will find the better the school, the stricter the uniform code. It's all to do with taking pride in your school and in representing it. I know at out local state high school they insist on no logos or colour flashes at all on black shoes, so if you had totally black trainers those would probably be ok, but anyone with even a Nike logo on their trainers was told to colour it in with permanent marker. At state primary school trainers are usually the order of the day, as most don't have separate sports uniforms so whatever they wear has to be suitable to most activities.
