Football supporters clubs in Adelaide

Hi,

I'm a 28 year old male from Belfast, and I am emigrating to Adelaide in November this year. One thing that I will miss about home the most is playing football for my local team and watching the football live on TV.

Are there any Glasgow Rangers supporters clubs in Adelaide? Or Northern Ireland Supporters clubs? I am moving over with my fiancee and to be honest I wont really know anyone. Advice I have taken from people is try to make friends as soon as possible.

all the best.

Neil.

As another Rangers fan (moving in January next year), I have discovered there is a RSC in Adelaide. Their website doesn't seem to work. Happy to meet for a beer or two when I arrive! Are you on your own, or coming with family?

I found this from the club website:

ADELAIDE JOHN BROWN LOYAL RSC

The club, a founding member of ORSA, meets at 12 Penneyshill Road, Hackham. Adelaide. Monthly meetings usually take place on the night of the first live game of the month. Times and dates can be checked via the club website at www.ozbears.com. President: John Paterson. Vice-president: Derek Walker. Secretary: Tony Williams. Treasurer: David Mawhinney. The club may be contacted via the secretary at 1 Hamilton Court, Sheidow Park. 5158. South Australia. We show all live Rangers games in the clubrooms. All upcoming matches and kick off times are available via the website.

All the best

Hey, there's loads of amateur teams here pretty much all over Adelaide and the outer suburbs. If you know where you going to be living have a look at saasl.com.au and you can search all the teams by suburb. I live in Glenelg but play for a team in Seaford. Bit of a trek as there's a lot of teams closer but was living down that way last year and good mix of English/Aussies in the team. There's also a few English/Scottish/irish teams around the city. They keep calling it soccer here, if ya say footie to an Aussie they think of the stupid thing where they use their hands

Theres a couple of places in the city that show games each week, the casino and the rosemont are probably the best and the rosemont is really popular for watching games. They show I think 4/5 games at a time for the 3pm kick offs and would have Scottish games. Not too sure about rangers though! Guspjmh, they'd be perfect for you living south, or else there's a team in Mclaren vale, noarlunga (although they play a little bit up south road) and also a new team forming in aldinga.

Anyway if yas fancy catching up for a beer when your here give me a shout. I'm here with my partner too, both from Ireland, 27 and 26!

Hi Neil

I'm also arriving in Adelaide with my g/f in November. Would be interested in playing football too so will let you know if I can find anywhere.

We are 29 and 27 and also looking to make friends as soon as we can let me know if you want to meet over there.

Hi guys.

Thanks for the info. I made a contact with a team called Modbury jets. I will be living in Northfield with the fiancee's family and I think they are the closest team to me.

DaveyBoy where abouts will you be living?

As it happens when we first arrive we will be living in Modbury - my girlfriends cousin lives there. Would be ideal to play there.

Irishglover - my girlfriend is irish too - if you would like to meet up let me know. It may help prevent the homesickness :)

Hi mate,

No I havent heard from anybody yet. I am not heading over to Adelaide until the beginning of November anyway. When does the season start? There is another fella just above your post - "DaveyBoy" who would be interested in joining a team too.

If anyone is a Liverpool fan, one of the members on here is currently standing for election as the regional fans' representative to make sure overseas fans are a voice to be heard. Whether Liverpool is your team or not, you can still vote for him if you like - he's a good guy and enthusiasm like his deserves to be encouraged I reckon! Here is where you can vote http://www.liverpoolfc.com/fans/lfcsc-voting-for-vacant-positions - his name is Matthew!

No laughing - I'm a Barnsley fan..........................

You're an Arsenal fan? I live about 250 yards from the Emirates, can hear when a goal goes before you see it on TV!

Thats awesome! I've been over to the Emirates quite a bit, love the place. Still doesn't have the same atmosphere as Highbury did though!

Barnsley, they've had some tough times recently lol!

Well today was 34 degrees. Could be up in the 30s by November and I'm sure a couple of weeks around Christmas will hit 40. Nice weather for a beer on the beach but not so great to work in. The season here starts around the end of march/early April do it's cooled down a bit by then so you'd have plenty of time for pre season and everything.

Im im from Dublin aswell mate and my girlfriend is from Leitrim.

Modbury jets first team play Saturday div 2 so they would be a decent standard as I'm sure their reserves would be aswell. They have 2 lower div teams so I'm sure there'd be enough space to get a game and jump between teams

Those Modbury Jets are the amateurs, not the ones I am associated with. They ate just down the road from us.

My Modbury Jets play federation (Semi-Pro) and the standard is higher. I have friends at the amateurs too, a good club.

Is there two teams in Modbury then? Two different clubs?
