Brownies and Beavers

We are arriving in Adelaide on Sat 27th June and I am trying to sort out what to bring and what to leave behind. My daughter who is nearly 9 would like to carry on with Brownies if we can find a pack. My question is, do they wear the same uniform in Australia and therefore should I bring hers with us or is it completely different? My son is in the same position with Beavers but I can't seem to find out if that even exists in Australia. Thanks for your help

Hi,

My daughter is 9 years of age and goes to Girl Guides (no such thing as Brownies here) the uniform is different than the UK. You have to buy the guide top but can wear any trouser/short bottoms as long as they are blue. She loves Girl guides and hopefully your daughter will too. Note though it is a lot more expensive I have found than Brownies in the UK, but worth every $ if the kids enjoy it!

Scouting and Guiding are very popular especially with children that might not necessarily be madly into sports. Beavers are called Joeys here and the uniform is quite different. I am not sure where you are going to be based but some troops are markedly better than others in terms of activities and camps undertaken. The Flagstaff Hill Scout Group (the second we tried) was particularly welcoming and is fantastic for activities and adventures.
