We've bit the bullet today and booked our flights. Leave UK on 5th April and arrive via a stopover in Singapore on 9th. Be interested to know if anyone else is planning on arriving around this time. Next step is to get the pooch's travel sorted. Feeling nervous, apprehensive and excited and we still have over 4 months to wait,

We arrived in Adelaide around the same time, although nearly 9 years ago now! I honestly don't know where the time has gone. We enjoy life in Adelaide and feel we have a higher standard of living compared to the UK and are grateful that we had the opportunity to come to Australia.

I believe peoples expectations, attitude and approach has a lot to do with how they get on starting a new life from scratch. Some people can adapt and thrive, others struggle. Enjoy your last few months in the UK and safe travels to Adelaide.

Couldn't agree more Jessica. We're used to moving every 3 years or so due to a life in the Forces so moving overseas is nothing new to us but making that final move when there is so much to do is a little overwhelming I guess. I love that feeling of getting to know new places and know the dangers of comparing old vs new. Having only spent 6 years in the UK out of the last 15, we see this as another one of life's adventures which will throw up plenty of challenges on they way, but better to have taken the opportunity than live with regrets of never having tried.

Time will fly by.

I remember all the lists that we made. Ticking everything off. printing out wads of information with instructions about how do do just about everything...wasn't really needed!

After all those lists i still manged to leave a suitcase behind in the wardrobe of a flat that we were staying in and I arrived with just the clothes that I was wearing!

All those well rehearsed plans!

One of the most difficult aspects was rehousing my dogs. My old Boxer went to my mom but we had managed to adopt two Bulldogs. They wouldn't have coped with the trip and the quarantine regs were 6 months at that time. Visits to check on their new homes and the pain that it cased the family was terrible.
