Vacation care question for Oct hols.

With the October holidays fast approaching I am looking at opitions for my girls for a few days over the holidays whilst I'm working. They really don't like their OSHC so I was looking at other options in terms of sports camps or other activity camps. I'm really struggling to find anything other than CampAustralia and other OSHC providers. My eldest (11) hates going to vacation care as it is so I want to find them something they will enjoy. We're located in the South but as I work in the CBD I can always bring them somewhere nearer to the city if needed, but it has to be for the day. Any suggestions would be welcome.

thanks

Sarah.

The Planetarium runs school holiday programmes (http://www.unisa.edu.au/Business-community/galleries-museums-and-centres/Planetarium/school-holiday-program/), There's a riding school at Aldinga that does a day programme (http://www.westwoodparkservices.com/) or the Aquatic Centre at Marion (http://www.saaquatic.ymca.org.au/participate/school-holiday-programs.html)

Not sure if any of those would be suitable, or if you actually have to stay with the child?

I get as kids get older OSHC isn't cool to go to. Lots of older kids seem to have this and younger siblings can then go the same way. OSHC often has day trips in the holidays. Ours heads out 3 days a week usually, only 2 spent at school. Places like the cinema, Bounce, swimming and other things.

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for? Its for kids from any school.

We've done the activities there before for a couple of hours. I use OSHC for long days generally as the trips and activities are good and mine doesn't mind them.

Thanks for the input ladies and yes, this was the sort of thing I was looking for in terms of Blackwood Rec...looks really reasonable as well.. I suspect I will do a combination of both or ask nicely to work from home!

I don't know exactly what area you are in but if the Blackwood one is too far out of your way you could look round and see if there is something similar closer to home perhaps? Having said that, if you commute into the CBD for work you could always nip round the back roads and go in via Blackwood and drop down into the city from that side.

If it were just for a few days in the holidays it would be bearable.
