Repatriation Insurance

Hi all,

just thought I would share this with everyone here.

We were advised by our agent, to take out repatriation insurance prior to our move to Australia.

Here is the link www.kinsure.co.uk the insurance covers single/couples/families who may have a close relative who has an accident/illness/death.

Basically they will pay for your flights home and back for a small annual fee.

You can take it out regardless of whether you are already here or not. You can get the information e-mailed to you and sent to a uk address that way you know you are covered. It is not just for your first year but you can renew it year after year.

I think it is a great thing as it will give peace of mind without the financial impact that could occur.

See ya x

That's not a bad idea. I became seriously ill a a couple of years ago and I really wanted my Mum here in Oz to look after me. Instead my hubby's Aunt & Uncle came down from Whyalla and stayed with us for a week but it's not the same.

My OH is a tight arse - he won't even pay for ambulance insurance here so I doubt I could persuade him to take out this one. Still a good idea though.

We have already looked into this and think it is a great idea, also the ambo insurance. Was only thinking the other day about whether it worked the other way. Thanks for the link

Great advice we were wondering whether this type of insurance exsisted and it is very affordable. I think we will definately purchase this insurance as liz has got elderly grandparents and will give us peace of minds

We were going to take this out but hubbys mum is over 75 and the policy excludes any emergency with people over 75.

Shame really.

Hmmmm,

Having read the exclusions I'm not totally sure what your covered for!

If a perfectly fit person with no previous conditions ever, just drops dead then i think they will pay up, other than that i think they have plenty of get out clauses.

Could be wrong though

This topic came up before a long time ago, I seem to remember with all the get out clauses most people thought it was not value for money, if you search this site i'm sure you can find the old thread.:)

I havent looked at the website for at least 18 months, but id say look at the small print in detail...........when I last looked it only covered if a doctor said someone was on deaths door. It may be different now..............but just check!

Thanks to both soggy & smit - we will certainly look at the small print in detail before making any decisions, with us both having pensioner aged parents, that would have been the main reason for purchasing the policy. One thing we did decide on was getting the ambulance cover and we both feel happier knowing we have it - even if we never use it. Em & Ian

Guest TC for short

Check the Weekly Telegraph - the expat version of the Daily Telegraph - available in most good newsagents. They usually carry a large advert for a company which looks like it offers a good deal for WT readers.
