Procedure for renting a property

Hi,

We are planning to make a trip to Adelaide in March for about 10 days to look out for school and place to rent. I tried searching through rent.com.au and realestate.com.au However, when i tried to register for an inspection, they need a Aust mobile no. What if I do not have one, will it be difficult to book for an inspection? 

May I know what are the procedures and documents needed in order to secure a lease? Is it possible to do it in 10 days? Any advice on what to expect and what to  prepare before an inspection in order to secure a lease in 10 days is greatly appreciated.

Rentals tend to be done by open inspection so you don't need to book, you just turn up at the allotted time.  The estate agent will probably want to take a name and number from you so they can follow up at a later date.

It's been over 5 years since we rented a house and my OH did most of it so I'm not entirely sure what was needed.

Kaihan, it'd probably be really useful to have an Australian mobile number to use (you'll need one anyway, so may as well get one beforehand). Just make sure your phone handset is unlocked before leaving home, then go to any supermarket and buy a simcard (usually $1/2) and put some credit on it. You'll probably need it for more than just rental inspections. Good luck!
