Seems that SBS has published the article on our never ending limbo.🙌

You can read it here: https://www.sbs.com.au/language/english/suspended-in-never-ending-limbo-temporary-migrants-in-australia-s-regions-decry-visa-uncertainty

Thank you @TTTF for reaching out to SBS and thank you to all the persons that contributed.

Hope it brings something and that the processing times will decrease again.

As you can read in the article, many applications cannot be processed because insufficient documents are lodged!!! So please check once more if you have submitted all necessary paperwork in your application.

Hoping for another rain of grants coming soon!

No worries..

Article looks good.. At least the message has been conveyed to the DHA. Lets hope some progressive action takes place.

Reading the article realized that we are handful of ppl at least if we consider the tracker.. 800 odd.. which constitutes to only 10% of the total applications.

Some  things to consider,

  1. The processing time will gradually reduce in next 8 to 10 months , as the number of applications start to reduce
  2. Lodge all documents correctly, in order to make your application 'decision ready'
  3. Some of the basic stuff, Provide Police clearance for home country and Australia for all applicants above the prescribed age (Renew it is over 12 months only AFP) Form 80 is required/ English for Secondary Applicants  is required ( Letter from University/ valid English Test results)

Nevertheless great work guys to get this addressed. A step in the right direction.

Be hopeful.

Hi forum members,

Shamsher from SBS contacted me this afternoon. We talked around for 40 mins over the phone. Discussed the issues regarding the uncertainty, non-transparency of the visa process, long waiting time and the issues we face in regional areas and the significant effect on our lives. Rest I am not sure test he will contact me once he’s done preparing the storyline. I hope I have provided him enough material backing up with lots of issues I have faced in regional areas. I’ll keep you posted.

A great effort in highlighting the difficulties of applicants in a civilized manner. Well done and thanks!!

Experts, Have a question for you. I have applied for 887 very recently and submitted all the required documentation except for Form 956 or 956a. I know that I do not require to provide this documentation if I have applied for 887 by myself.

However, when I was applying for 489 I got the help from an agent, but I haven't submitted a 956 or 956a to withdraw the agreement with the specific agent after getting the visa. So, all the comms. from Immi went to the agent until I recently updated the email address to my personal address. The question is, Do I still need to submit these forms though I have applied 887 via my Immi account?

Still waiting for an answer for the above. Please assist me seniors.

And it is great to see things are moving at least slightly better than the last couple of months. And pat on the back for the effort in getting the news article published. 🙂

In case you are using same immi account then definitely all the information will be automatically sent to your consultant who filed 489 on your behalf. You would have seen that when you filed 887; communication of documents filed would go to the authorized person. If you are using same account then you will need to use 956a to withdraw. But if you have created a new account then you are good.

·       Thanks for all your effort, guys, and that SBS has published the story! Well done!

Both examples mentioned in the story have applied in August '18. Unfortunately, the story doesn't cover that:
a) random applicants get requests for further documents although they are already uploaded
b) that applications from Jan to June ‘18 are completely on hold and are obviously forgotten, although they have announced it different on their website.

But at least the story has been addressed - thank you! Let's hope for the best!

Your case is same like me  they asked me  my AFP

MY wife form 80   copy of her passport her  PCC  and copy of marriage certificate  pls update thses documents to avoid the delay ...we are stuck   i dont want anyone else to stuck in this situation

Hi, small clarification. The application says tht u can’t include your spouse after submitting the application.

So if it’s just to provide them with additional information do u need to give police clearance for spouse etc. or in your case was your wife included in your application?

Sorry got a bit confused with PCC thts why.

My situation is, I applied on the 1st of October 2018 as a single applicant and got married after. My spouse (who lives abroad and currently on holiday here on visitor visa) details were not included in the original application. However I uploaded the marriage certificate soon after the wedding and also reported a circumstance change.

May spouse can’t apply for TR until I receive this. By reading the messages on the group I realized tht I will have to update my form 80 with partner details and also some other extra documents such as the passport copy of the spouse. (Please correct me if I’m wrong)

is there anything else I should upload or change?

TIA for your help.

That's strange as primary applicant doesn't need to provide English test/certificate but for secondary you need to provide a certificate.
