Help...I'm totally confused..... we are moving to Adelaide in 2009 & looking to rent a property for 6 months until we get settled into the right area. I will be entering as a student until I obtain an accountancy degree. Are we able to buy a property before obtaining a residential visa? Also, my Partner has investments in London, how do we transfer the income into Australia without paying double tax - does anyone recdommend a good IFA?? Any input would be much appreciated. Sue

Regards your investment's it would depend on a number of factors, including your visa type ie perm or temp, the type of investments held and the amounts amongst other things. It may or may not be worth transferring them over to Australia.
