great to see there are so many Bristolians there. Out of interest do Kingswood and St.George compare well?

I booked the flights last night for our Easter trip... Can't wait!

I just want to find a self catering appt in Henley now.

Hi matt,

Not quite sure what you are asking? Do you mean does Kingswood and St George compare with Henley beach/Adelaide they are so much different i would much rather live in Henley beach.:D No 2 houses are the same in most streets and there are not cars double parked every where

Have a look at Esplanade apartments 80 seaview rd west beach on the net,Jacky and i stayed there for a week when we came over last year for an interview they have 1-2 bed apartments, its not in Henley but west beach which is next to it and it is right on the sea front, its not luxury accommodation but it had everything you could want for a short stay we paid about $500.00 per week.If you see anything else you like let me know where it is and i will have a drive by and see what it looks like.

Cheers Dave.

Dave,

I was refering to the 'original' Kingswood and St. george in Bristol. Are they even remotely similiar? I bet they are poles apart!

I guess as Bristol was the centre of the world for Methodists, when they moved, they named the suburbs over there to remind them of home.

Thanks for the offers of help, i may just take you up on it :)

Campbelltown, Paradise and Athelstone are all near the foothills. They are close to linear park (Torrens river) bike track, ducks etc. Close 10min from trendy Norwood 5min from Paradise interchange( big bus depo... express to town 10min) 10km -25min from city peak hour by car. lovely and quiet.

HI Matt

we are in Bristol at the mo but visas submitted & hoping to be out sometime next year. We've done loads of research but as quick as someone tells you one place is great the next will tell you its not. We've decided that having looked on realestate.com, used google earth, this forum & 'Where to live guides; Adelaide' - we are gradually picking out 3 or 4 places that we like & will then have to see what we think when we get there. But as this whole process is all about life change we've decided that heart over head this time - last time we moved we let the head rule and ended up in Frampton Cotterell - hence the desire to emigrate!!

Frampton is alright! There are worse areas anyway.

We are doing pretty much the same as you, getting an idea of suburbs that might suit our lifestyle. We have now got a shortlist of places to check out in April when we come over (the flights are now booked). All we need to sort out now is accomodation and a hire car.

Once we know for sure Adelaide is where we want to settle thats when the fun really starts!

Hi Matt,

I'm a South Adelaide girl (my adopted home ;)), ask me anything about this end but I don't know much about the areas in the north. I'm sure other PIA members on here will comment on them at some point for you.

What I suggest for now, is that you type in these places on the Search engine of PIA. I'm sure people in the past have wanted to know about these suburbs so just read through what was said before.

The best of luck with your emigration!

Hi Judi, i don't know if you will get this but if you do can you do me the favour of letting my wife and i know about some great areas to live in South Adelaide, say 15/20 km from the city, with good senior schools. we will have about $450,000 to spend on a house, we want 4beds and a pool, almost new, is it possible. my wife is taking some convincing about emigrating to Adelaide, she thinks there will be more going on for the kids in Perth where we visited. i feel that Adelaide is the place, just not as hot as Perth, better houses for your money and easy going and relaxing. will you give us some inside info and sell Adelaide to us, thanks for your help, jim & helen Balmforth from sunny Yorkshire UK.(JOKE)

  • 4 weeks later...
Guest philomena

Hi I am new to this section of P in A,

Last week i recieved my 136 skilled visa, i work as a nurse.

My husband Karl and myself ( in our 40,s) are hoping to come to Adelaide in the new year when we sell our house, we have never been to Aus before, are we mad?

Karl was made redundant last week so we are comming for a visit at the end of Jan. I can only come out for 2 weeks due to work , however Karl is going to stay out for a further 4 weeks to research the areas, We did initally hope he could go for 4 weeks before me so that my 2 week visit would have been a quality one, luckily before i booked tickets PO forum informed me he could not go without me.

Has anyone idea where we should start? we are just booking flights, we will stay in BnB,s for our 2 weeks together and Karl will stay in ? Hostels for his other 4 weeks to keep costs down. we need to keep as much of his redundancie money to pay morgage.

At the moment we live in derbyshire in a lovely village, we do fell running to keep fit, enjoy the outdoors and food.:D
