I used to do suspended ceilings and dry lining in the uk, I am now tape & jointing ( flushing ) here. The fixing work in new houses is not much fun and very different to the uk. The commercial side is very similar to the uk with only slight differences - they have framers and boarders doing just that, one frames out the metal work and the others board. Boards here are usually 6m in length!!!!! The housing side of things is shocking compared to the standards in commercial, they wont bat an eyelid at leaving an inch gap in something!!!!!! And then the flusher has the task of making everything look pretty!!!! Where are you from??? Pm me if you need more info.

Thanks for the reply Paul,6m boards hey? wow! and an inch gap I know a few blokes that would be made up with that sort of standard ,lol.

Is there plenty of work about at the moment in Adelaide?

What are the prices like?

Is the work on a self employed basis like here in the UK or are you employed?

Could you give me the names of any "framing" companies...

we're from a town called Ashton-in-makerfield, half way between manchester and liverpool on the east lancs. Where abouts are you from?
