Hi

We had the same problem, our two girls were 15 and 12 when we moved here, Jan 08. Our eldest was due to take her GCSE's that May/June! Out here they have one cert of education to aim for which they can't take until year 12 (the years are the same out here) which is the end of high school education. Then they can go on to TAFE or Uni. To be honest I was glad, as if our daughter had 'finished school' in UK, it would have been harder for her to make friends and fit in to further education, she's now in year 12 & will finish this academic year. I don't think anytime is the right time, but sometimes you just gotta 'roll with it' if you know what I mean. Hope that helps, all the best.

My eldest was 15 near 16 when we came out to Adelaide, she missed her GCSE`s, but settled into school brilliantly, although she didnt seem to take it seriously, 2 busy having fun started even skipping odd few lessons, which she had never done in the UK, all part of fitting in etc I suppose, she loved the way they get to try different topics such as photography, psycology etc etc, however we came bk the UK, and she has since done her main Eng Maths etc GCSE, and now doing her A levels, so not the end of the world, if your kids have ambition they`l always be ok, on a positive note we hope to return when shes done these A levels, fingers crossed.

Good Luck
